A CREDIT/DEBIT card refundable deposit is required at the time of booking, to confirm your booking. Credit/Debit card payments will only be accepted if in the drivers name.
Drivers must be between the ages of 23 and 70 years inclusive for cars, 25 and 70 for commercials & minibuses/people carriers.
Driver must have held a full drivers license for more than three years. Certain endorsements may be accepted at the insurance company’s discretion. Drivers of Minibuses and vehicles over 3.5ton GVW must have the correct driver entitlement on their licence.
Only those drivers authorised at the commencement of the hire are permitted to drive the vehicle. Under NO circumstances may any other person drive unless prior permission is obtained from Gapton Car Hire.
Driving Licence and ID
As of the 8th June 2015, driving convictions will no longer be endorsed on any form of paper driving licence. Therefore an electronic check will need to be performed before every hire. This will be done at the time of vehicle collection via the DVLA’s View My Driving Licence service.
To use this service, the driver will need to produce their plastic driving licence card, or older style green/pink paper licence, along with their National Insurance number.
Two forms of ID confirming your current home address no greater than 3 months old, such as utilities bill/bank statement/council tax bill/phone bill will also be required.
Failure to produce the required information and documentation will prohibit the rental.
All vehicles are fully insured, a copy of the insurance policy is available for inspection on request. Certain terms and conditions apply to this policy, which are available on request. The policy does carry an uninsurable excess, this is liable to change at the insurance company’s discretion. ‘Excess protection’ to lower the standard excess is available. CDW does not cover: Damage to any glass, wing mirrors, hub caps, wheels, tyres including punctures, inside trim, damage to over head height on commercial vehicles & minibuses.
Extension of Rental Period
The rental may only be extended by prior arrangement before the initial period of rental expires and a further pre-payment will be required. Failure to comply with this condition may render void the insurance cover provided. Any rental over four weeks is liable to different tariff’s and terms & conditions, which are available on request.
Our fuel policy is “like for like”. Any vehicle not returned with the same amount of fuel supplied with, will be topped up as necessary, and the amount taken from the deposit. We are unable to refund any vehicle returned with more fuel than supplied with.
Any form of Pet or Animal is strictly prohibited in any of our vehicles. Your deposit is at risk as a cleaning fine if this rule is broken.
All vehicles are covered by manufactures roadside assistance, with the appropriate phone number stated on the vehicle key tag. Most roadside assistance services will only cover manufacture based or mechanical faults on your hire vehicle. It does not cover certain self-induced faults such as the use of incorrect fuel, lost keys, stolen keys, or instances where keys have been locked inside the vehicle. Most roadside services will arrange assistance if requested, but the responsibility of paying for the assistance will be down to you, the hirer.
Whilst every effort is made to provide the vehicle requested or reserved, it may be necessary to substitute and alternative due to unforeseen circumstances.
